Nassington Iron-working

A 5 metre diameter spread of slag was discovered in field-walking some 600 metres north west of Nassington Village.

Among the debris was an anvil block weighing just over 6 kg.

It is noted that both iron-working and its representation on Nene Valley pottery is a common feature of the Lower Nene Valley area, and must represent a substantial source of its wealth.
