Glapthorn 1983

Two late medieval potting and tiling establishments with kilns and associated buildings were discovered in Glapthorn (NGR TL0205 9570 and TL0245 9072) in 1983. They have provided the first evidence of dual-function kilns used to fire lime between tile firings. Another kiln of similar date (unpublished) has now been excavated close by.
