Geophysics at Durobrivae - Update

Exploratory research using Ground Penetrating Radar, Resistivity, and Magnetometry has revealed more about key areas of the Roman town of Durobrivae. The work during 2016 and 2017 has been undertaken by volunteers from the Herts based Community Archaeology Geophysics Group (CAGG) supported by by Kris Lockyear of UCL. Features revealed include a Romano-British temple. Details of the work can be found on the CAGG website.


In a previous post we explained the proposals for "Walking in Time". We are pleased to report the bid has been successful! The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has now approved a Grant of over £500,00 towards the "Walking in Time" project of which "Walking with Romans" will now become an integral part. Local delivery will be through the Nene Park Trust (NPT), which is planning signed walking routes, information boards, leaflets and a booklet to help explain the Roman heritage of our area. The Nene Valley Archaeological Trust (NVAT) is delighted to announce that it has been accepted as a partner in this venture and detailed negotiations to define the scope of its work are in progressing with NPT W
